The Prophet ﷺ said, after Ubayy had recited Umm al-Quran to him, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, nothing like it has been revealed in the Torah, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Furqan. It is the seven oft-repeated verses and the Magnificent Quran that I have been given."
حدثنا سليمان بن داود حدثنا إسماعيل يعني ابن جعفر قال أخبرني العلاء عن أبيه
أن النبي ﷺ قال وقرأ عليه أبي أم القرآن فقال والذي نفسي بيده ما أنزل في التوراة ولا في الإنجيل ولا في الزبور ولا في الفرقان مثلها إنها السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم الذي أعطيت
Ismail bin Jafar of Madinah. Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, Abdullah bin Dinar, and several others narrated from him, while Ali bin Hajar, Muhammad bin Zunbur, and many others narrated from him. He died in the year 180, and he was among the trustworthy scholars. He was the reciter of the people of Madinah, and he had about five hundred hadiths. He died in Baghdad.Tirmidhi narrated this hadith at length within a story, and said, "Hasan sahih." Darimi also narrated it, and Bukhari, Nasai, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah narrated something similar to it.
