The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should walk toward his brother carrying a weapon, for none of you knows, perhaps Satan may cause it to slip from his hand, and he falls into a pit of fire."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ لا يمشين أحدكم إلى أخيه بالسلاح فإنه لا يدري أحدكم لعل الشيطان ينزع في يده فيقع في حفرة من نار
A sahih hadith. In Sahih Muslim, the wording is, "Whoever gestures toward his brother with an iron weapon, the angels curse him," in the Book of Manners, from Amr Naqid and Ibn Numayr. Tirmidhi related it in the Book of Tribulations from Abdullah bin Sabbah and from Qutayba, and Muslim also related it in the Book of Manners from Muhammad bin Rafi. Bukhari related it as, "None of you should point a weapon at his brother..." in the Book of Tribulations, from Muhammad. The word "yanziu" is with the plain letter "ain" and the "zay" carrying a kasrah, meaning "he shoots" or "throws." It has also been narrated with the dotted letter (ghayn) and the zay carrying a fatha, and its meaning then is likewise "he throws and causes harm." The root meaning of "nazi" is stabbing and causing corruption.
