The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Straighten the rows in prayer, for straightening the rows is part of the excellence of prayer."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ والله ما أوتيكم من شيء ولا أمنعكموه إن أنا إلا خازن أضع حيث أمرت
This is sahih on account of the soundness of the Sahifa. It is from the individually numbered Sahifa, number 42, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not narrate it through this route. Abu Dawud narrated it, number 2949, through this route, from Salama bin Shabib, from Abdul-Razzaq, with the isnad of the Sahifa. Muslim did not narrate it at all from the hadith of Abu Hurairah. Bukhari narrated it, 6:152–153 of Fath, through the narration of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra, from Abu Hurairah, as a raised report, with the wording, "I do not give you anything nor withhold anything from you, I am only a distributor, I place things where I have been commanded." Hafiz stated explicitly in Fath, 6:204, that this is something Bukhari alone narrated, without Muslim. Something similar in meaning has already passed, 7913 m, through the narration of Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah. As for his wording "I place," this is the correct reading, confirmed in the manuscript originals and in Jami al-Masanid, [7:394], as well as in the individual Sahifa and in the two narrations of Bukhari and Abu Dawud. In H it reads "I do," which is a printing error.
