The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, I neither give you anything nor withhold anything from you. I am only a keeper of the treasury, placing it where I have been commanded."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله عز وجل قال لي أنفق أنفق عليك وسمى الحرب خدعة
This is a sahih hadith like the rest of the Sahifah. It appears in the Sahifah Mufradah as number 40, along with the following hadith, 8138m. Muslim narrated it alone, without the following hadith, [1/77, 3/273-274, Bulaq], through the route of the Sahifah, and after it, with the same chain, he narrated the previous hadith, 8125. Bukhari did not narrate it through the route of the Sahifah, but rather narrated it independently, Fath 9/437-438, from the copy of Araj. Hafiz has clarified here that Hammam's narration, that is, from the Sahifah, is with Muslim, which indicates that Bukhari did not narrate it through that route. He also narrated it in Fath, page 265, from the copy of Araj, along with hadith 8125. He also narrated it, Fath 13/390, from the copy of Araj, along with the beginning of hadith 8100. And in the Sahifah Mufradah it appears with the wording, "Allah said, 'Spend...'" without the word "to Me." That word is established in the original copies of Musnad, in Jami al-Masanid, and in Muslim's narration through the route of the Sahifah.8138m - "War was named deception" [41]. It is recorded in the Sahifah Mufradah as number 40, following the hadith before it, although it was also recorded earlier there as number 29, following another hadith, which is the previous hadith, 8127. In the first numbering of the Musnad, we too made it follow the one before it under a single number. But we thought it preferable to separate it, since it carries a different meaning with no relation to what precedes it, and because it was narrated separately previously, as will come. So we gave it the same number as the one before it, but attached the letter "m" to it to indicate its separation from it while repeating the same number.Bukhari narrated it, Fath 4/63-64, and 6/110, through the route of the Sahifah, as in the narration of the Sahifah Mufradah, that is, along with the previous hadith 8127, and we pointed this out there. It previously appeared independently as 8097, through the route of Ibn Mubarak, from Mamar, from Hammam bin Munabbih, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, that he named war deception.
