Abdullah bin Harith reported,

His father was put in charge of preparing the food for Uthman. He said, "It is as if I can still see the partridges around the large bowls."A man came and said, "Ali disapproves of this."So a messenger was sent to Ali, who came with his hands smeared from beating leaves off trees for fodder.Uthman said to him, "You oppose us a great deal."Ali said, "I remind by Allah anyone who witnessed the Prophet ﷺ when the hindquarters of a wild donkey was brought to him while he was in the state of ihram, and he said, 'We are in ihram, so feed it to those who are not in ihram.'"Some men stood up and bore witness to that.Then he said, "I remind by Allah any man who witnessed the Prophet ﷺ when five ostrich eggs were brought to him, and he said, 'We are in ihram, so feed them to those who are not in ihram.'"Some men stood up and bore witness to that.Then Uthman rose, entered his tent, and they left the food for the people of the watering place.

عن عبد الله بن الحارث

أن أباه ولي طعام عثمان قال فكأني أنظر إلى الحجل حوالي الجفان فجاء رجل فقال إن عليا رضي الله عنه يكره هذا فبعث إلى علي وهو ملطخ يديه بالخبط فقال إنك لكثير الخلاف علينا فقال علي أذكر الله من شهد النبي ﷺ أتي بعجز حمار وحش وهو محرم فقال إنا محرمون فأطعموه أهل الحل فقام رجال فشهدوا ثم قال أذكر الله رجلا شهد النبي ﷺ أتي بخمس بيضات بيض نعام فقال إنا محرمون فأطعموه أهل الحل فقام رجال فشهدوا فقام عثمان فدخل فسطاطه وتركوا الطعام على أهل الماء
