Its isnad is sahih. Abu Kathir is Suhaymi Ghubari, whose biography has already passed at 7685, where we said his name was Yazid bin Abdul-Rahman bin Uzaynah, and that there is disagreement over the name of his grandfather. We add here that Abu Dawud, after narrating this hadith, said, "The name of Abu Kathir Ghubari is Yazid bin Abdul-Rahman bin Ghufaylah Suhaymi." Some said Uzaynah, but the correct form is Ghufaylah, meaning with a dammah on the ghayn and a fathah on the fa. In the printed edition of Abu Dawud verified by our brother Shaykh Muhammad Muhyiddin Abdul-Hameed, following the printed main text along with Awn al-Mabud, it appears as Suhami, without the ya, which is an error. The correct form, Suhaymi, with the diminutive pattern, is confirmed in the manuscript of Shaykh Abid Sindi, and the diminutive vocalization is likewise stated explicitly in al-Taqrib and al-Khulasah.This Abu Kathir is not the father of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, who narrates from him, as we clarified there. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 2:125, and Abu Dawud, 3678 [3:367 of Awn al-Mabud], both of them through Yahya, that is, Ibn Abu Kathir, with this isnad. Munziri also attributed it to Tirmidhi, and to Nasai in an abridged form.
