The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of gourds, vessels coated with pitch, green jars, and hollowed-out tree trunks as containers for drinks.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والمزفت والحنتم والنقير
Its isnad is sahih. It has already appeared in brief with a similar meaning at 7286, without mention of the "naqir," through the route of Zuhri, from Abu Salama or Saeed, from Abu Hurairah. Nasai also related it, 2:328, in a manner close to what is here, through the route of Muhammad bin Ziyad, from Abu Hurairah, and this is the closest of the narrations to the wording of this Musnad. Muslim also related it, 2:127, and Abu Dawud, 3693, with a similar meaning and an addition, through the route of Muhammad bin Sirin, from Abu Hurairah. Its meaning has already appeared, along with an explanation of these terms, in the Musnad of Ibn Umar, 5191.
