The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued with one another.Musa said to Adam, 'Adam, you are the one who caused your descendants to enter the Fire.'Adam replied, 'Musa, Allah chose you with His message and His speech, and He revealed the Torah to you. Did you find written there that I would fall?'Musa said, 'Yes.'So Adam prevailed over him in the argument."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا معمر عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى لآدم يا آدم أنت الذي أدخلت ذريتك النار فقال آدم يا موسى اصطفاك الله برسالته وبكلامه وأنزل عليك التوراة فهل وجدت أني أهبط قال نعم قال فحجه آدم
Its chain of transmission is sahih. A similar version has already passed at length, through different routes, at 7381, 7578, 7579. Bukhari also narrated something similar to it at 330, from the narration of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah. Muslim likewise narrated it, 2:300, from the narration of Yahya, but he did not mention its wording. See the narration that follows this one.
