The people were caught by a violent wind on the road to Mecca while Umar bin Khattab was performing the pilgrimage. The wind grew severe upon them, so Umar said to those around him, "Who can tell us something about the wind?" But no one gave him any answer. What Umar had asked about reached me, so I urged my mount on until I caught up with him. I said, "Commander of the Faithful, I was told that you asked about the wind. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The wind is from the mercy of Allah. It brings mercy and it brings punishment. When you see it, do not curse it. Ask Allah for its good and seek refuge in Him from its evil.'"
