The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While a man was strutting along in his fine garment, admiring his long hair, with his lower garment trailing in arrogance, Allah caused the earth to swallow him, and he will keep sinking," or he said, "plunging into it until the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن محمد بن زياد مولى بني جمح أنه
قال رسول الله ﷺ بينا رجل يتبختر في حلة معجب بجمته قد أسبل إزاره إذ خسف الله به فهو يتجلجل أو قال يهوي فيها إلى يوم القيامة
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it with similar wording 10:221–222 through the route of Shubah, from Muhammad bin Ziyad. Muslim related it 2:156 through several routes, from Muhammad bin Ziyad, and through other routes from Abu Hurairah. A similar meaning has already passed, from the hadith of Ibn Umar 5340, and from the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr bin As 7074.
