The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Iraq will withhold its qafiz and its dirham, Syria will withhold its mudd and its dinar, and Egypt will withhold its irdabb and its dinar. You will return to where you began, you will return to where you began, you will return to where you began. The flesh and blood of Abu Hurairah bear witness to this."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, I heard Yahya bin Maeen mention Abu Kamil and say, "I used to learn this subject from him." Abu Kamil was a Baghdadi from the Abna.
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim (2:365) and Abu Dawud (3035) [3:129–130, Awn al-Mabud] both narrated it, through Zuhayr, who is Ibn Muawiya, with this same isnad, in similar wording. The statement of Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Ahmad, appended after this hadith, which he reported from Yahya bin Main, is a magnificent commendation from Yahya, the imam of criticism and validation of narrators, regarding Abu Kamil Muzaffar bin Mudrik Khurasani. He referred to it in the commentary on hadith 3611. Yahya's statement, "I used to take this matter from him," means the craft of hadith and knowledge of the narrators, as Khatib also related from Yahya bin Main in Tarikh Baghdad (13:125).Khatib also related this same statement here, from this passage of the Musnad, reporting it from Hasan bin Ali Tamimi, from Ahmad bin Jafar bin Hamdan, who is Qutai, from Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal. This is the very isnad through which the scholars transmitted the Musnad. See, for example, the introductions to the Musnad in our edition, volume 1, page 33.Yahya's statement, "from the Abna," means that he was one of the Abna of Khurasan. In H it appeared as "min al-Umana" (the trustworthy ones), which is a printing error, and we corrected it from K and M, and from Khatib's report of this passage, and also from his report with his isnad going back to Abu Zakariya, who is Yahya bin Main, who said, "I heard Abu Kamil, an elder from the Abna, trustworthy, a man devoted to hadith."
