The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman entered the Fire because of a cat she had tied up. She neither fed it nor gave it water, nor did she release it so it could eat from the creatures of the earth."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا محمد وابن نمير قالا حدثنا محمد عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ دخلت امرأة النار في هرة ربطتها فلم تطعمها ولم تسقها ولم ترسلها فتأكل من خشاش الأرض
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari (6:254-255) and Muslim (2:292) both narrated it through Saeed Maqburi from Abu Hurairah, in similar wording. Neither of them recorded its actual text, but instead referred back to the hadith of Abdullah bin Umar that preceded it, as bearing the same meaning.A note of benefit, the hadith of Abdullah bin Umar on this matter was narrated by Bukhari again at 6:380, and it does not appear in the Musnad, as far as I have seen, even though it is found in the Sahihayn. Muslim also narrated it at 2:325, and Ibn Majah at 4256, through Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman from Abu Hurairah, in similar wording but at greater length. The narration of Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman will come later in the Musnad at 7635, and the hadith will come again repeatedly through various routes from Abu Hurairah at 8186, 9892, 10035, 10211, 10592, and 10738. None of these routes contains the narration of Saeed Maqburi, which the two sheikhs (Bukhari and Muslim) narrated.Its meaning has already passed, within a story, in the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr bin As at 6483 and 6763.
