The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, death will be brought forth and stationed upon the Sirat. Then it will be called out, 'People of Paradise!' They will look out, fearful and apprehensive that they might be removed."Yazid said, "...that they might be removed from the place they are in.""Then it will be said, 'Do you recognize this?' They will reply, 'Yes, our Lord, this is death.' Then it will be called out, 'People of the Fire!' They will look out, joyful and hopeful that they might be removed from the place they are in. Then it will be said, 'Do you recognize this?' They will reply, 'Yes, this is death.' Then the order will be given, and it will be slaughtered upon the Sirat. Then it will be said to both groups, 'Eternity in what you find yourselves, with no death ever again.'"
حدثنا يزيد وابن نمير قالا حدثنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ يؤتى بالموت يوم القيامة فيوقف على الصراط فيقال يا أهل الجنة فيطلعون خائفين وجلين أن يخرجوا وقال يزيد أن يخرجوا من مكانهم الذي هم فيه فيقال هل تعرفون هذا قالوا نعم ربنا هذا الموت ثم يقال يا أهل النار فيطلعون فرحين مستبشرين أن يخرجوا من مكانهم الذي هم فيه فيقال هل تعرفون هذا قالوا نعم هذا الموت فيأمر به فيذبح على الصراط ثم يقال للفريقين كلاهما خلود فيما تجدون لا موت فيه أبدا
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah (4327) also related it by way of Muhammad bin Bishr, from Muhammad bin Amr, with this same isnad, and his commentator quoted from Zawaid, saying, "This is a sahih isnad, its men are trustworthy."Bukhari related part of it by this same route. It has a corroborating witness in the Sahihayn, from the hadith of Abu Saeed.Busiri made an error in what he attributed to Bukhari. Bukhari did indeed relate a portion of it, 11:360, but not by this route, rather through the narration of Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah. It will come again in the Musnad through several routes, both abridged and lengthy, at 8893, 8894, 9463, and 10665, but the route of Abu Zinad from Araj is not among them.It will also come again in full at 8803, through the narration of Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah. By this route of Ala, Tirmidhi related it, 3:335-336, and said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith." Something similar in meaning to it has already passed, from the hadith of Ibn Umar, at 5993, 6022, and 6138.
