Its isnad is sahih. Abu Ubayda Abdul-Wahid bin Wasil the ironsmith, a sheikh of Ahmad, his reliability was established earlier at 4269, and we add here that Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography at 24/1/3, as did Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad 11:3-5. Habib bin Shaheed the Azdi, his reliability was established earlier at 1742 and 5096, and we add here that Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography at 102/2/1-103. Ata is Ibn Abu Rabah.This hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1:116, through Abu Usama, from Habib bin Shaheed, with this same isnad, but in his version the beginning is worded as a marfu report, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no prayer without recitation." Abu Hurairah said, "Whatever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited aloud, we recited aloud to you, and whatever he recited silently, we recited silently to you."Bukhari narrated it, 2:209, through Ibn Ulaya, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ata, in a manner similar to the version in the Musnad here, with an addition at the end. The Hafiz pointed to the various narrations of those who transmitted it from Ata, in the Musnad and other collections. He then pointed to Daraqutni's critique of Muslim's version, which is worded as marfu. He then said, "Indeed, his statement, 'What was recited aloud to us, and what was kept silent from us,' suggests that everything mentioned was received from the Prophet, so all of it would carry the ruling of being marfu."Muslim also narrated it, as did Abu Dawud at 797, and Nasai at 1:153, through various routes from Ata.
