My father and I set out to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. While we were on the way, we met him. My father said to me, "My son, this is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."I had imagined that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not resemble ordinary people, but instead I saw a man with thick hair tinged with henna, wearing two green cloaks. It is as if I am still looking at his shins.He asked my father, "Who is this with you?"My father replied, "By Allah, this is my son."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed at my father's oath about me, then said, "You speak the truth. He bears no guilt for your wrongs, and you bear no guilt for his."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "No bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another" [Anam 6:164].
حدثنا عبد الله حدثني شيبان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا يزيد يعني ابن إبراهيم التستري حدثنا صدقة بن أبي عمران عن رجل هو ثابت بن منقذ
انطلقت أنا وأبي إلى رسول الله ﷺ فلما كنا في بعض الطريق فلقيناه فقال لي أبي يا بني هذا رسول الله ﷺ قال وكنت أحسب أن رسول الله ﷺ لا يشبه الناس فإذا رجل له وفرة بها ردع من حناء عليه بردان أخضران قال كأني أنظر إلى ساقيه قال فقال لأبي من هذا معك قال هذا والله ابني قال فضحك رسول الله ﷺ لحلف أبي علي ثم قال صدقت أما إنك لا تجني عليه ولا يجني عليك قال وتلا رسول الله ﷺ {ولا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى}
Its chain of transmission is hasan. Shayban bin Abu Shayba, he is Shayban bin Farroukh Hibati, with a fatha on the ha and the ba, his father's kunya being Abu Shayba. His reliability was established earlier at 889, and we add here that Ahmad and others also confirmed his reliability. Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 2/2/255, and Ibn Abu Hatim in al-Jarh wal-Tadil 2/1/357.Yazid bin Ibrahim Tustari, his reliability was established earlier at 1726, and we add here that Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 4/2/318, and Dhahabi in Tadhkirat al-Huffaz 1:187-188. His name appeared in kh as "Zayd," which is a printing error, and we corrected it from t and m.Sadaqa bin Abu Imran Kufi, judge of Ahwaz, Ibn Hajar overlooked him and did not give him a biography in al-Tahdhib, even though he is among the narrators of the six books. Muslim narrated from him in his Sahih, as did Ibn Majah, and Bukhari cited him in his Sahih as a supplementary reference (mualaqan), marking him with the symbol of these three. The publisher of al-Tahdhib transferred his biography into the footnote from al-Khulasa. Ibn Tahir Maqdisi gave him a biography in al-Jam bayna Rijal al-Sahihayn, p. 225, and he is trustworthy. Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, p. 499. Ibn Abu Hatim gave him a biography in al-Jarh wal-Tadil 2/1/432-433, saying, He narrated from Abu Ishaq, Abu Yafur, Iyad bin Laqeet, and Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, and Abu Usama and Sadan bin Yahya narrated from him. Then he said, My father mentioned, from Ishaq bin Mansur, from Yahya bin Main, that he was asked about Sadaqa bin Abu Imran, and he said, "I do not know him." Abu Muhammad (that is, Ibn Abu Hatim) said, meaning, I do not know the reality of his situation. Then he narrated from his father, who said, "He is truthful, an upright shaykh, but not well known."Bukhari gave him a biography in al-Kabir 2/2/295-296, saying, Sadaqa bin Abu Imran, Muhammad bin Amr told me, Amr bin Asim told us, Yazid bin Ibrahim Tustari told us, Sadaqa bin Abu Imran told us, from Abu Rimtha, "I went out with [my father], and the Prophet ﷺ met me." This is a mursal report. This is a reference from Bukhari to this hadith. Then he narrated another hadith from him, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa. Then he said, Ishaq told us, from Abu Usama, "Sadaqa bin Abu Imran, judge of Ahwaz, told me, he heard Abu Yafur."Thabit bin Munqiz is a follower (tabii) of unknown standing. Husayni gave him a biography in al-Ikmal, p. 15, but said nothing except that he is not well known. Ibn Hajar in al-Tajil, p. 63, added nothing beyond pointing to this, from the narration of Abdullah bin Ahmad, and I found no biography for him in any other reference beyond that. So he is a follower of unknown standing, and he remains under a veil of uncertainty until his standing becomes clear, so anyone who considers his hadith hasan on this basis has done so accordingly. His name appeared in al-Tahdhib 12:97, among the narrators from Abu Rimtha, as "Thabit bin Abu Munqiz," so the addition of "Abu" is certainly a copyist's or printer's error.I did not find this hadith from this route anywhere except in al-Musnad, aside from Bukhari's reference to it which we mentioned, but with him it comes from the narration of Sadaqa bin Abu Imran from Abu Rimtha, and Bukhari followed it by noting that it is mursal, meaning that it is disconnected between Sadaqa and Abu Rimtha. Perhaps this narration reached Bukhari with the addition of Thabit bin Munqiz between Sadaqa and Abu Rimtha, so he judged the chain to be disconnected, and postponed giving a biography for Thabit bin Munqiz until his standing became known, but this did not come to pass for him, so he left off giving him a biography. The meaning of the hadith is established overall by the hadiths before and after it. This hadith is among the additions of Abdullah bin Ahmad.
