Shall I tell you a hadith that my own ears heard, that my heart memorized, and that I have not forgotten since?Ubaydullah bin Hidah and I set out on the road to Sham, and we passed by Abdullah bin Amr bin As. He mentioned the hadith and said, "A man from your people came, a rough and bold Arabi, and said, 'Messenger of Allah, where is the migration to be made to you? Wherever you are, or to a specific land, or for a particular people only? Or when you die does it come to an end?'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a while, then asked, "Where is the one who asked about migration?"The man said, "Here I am, Messenger of Allah."He said, "If you establish the prayer and give the zakah, you are a migrant, even if you die in Hadrama," meaning a land in Yamamah.Then a man stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, tell me about the garments of the people of Paradise. Are they woven, or do they split forth from the fruit of Paradise?"The people seemed to find the Arabi's question strange, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Why are you amazed at an ignorant man asking a knowledgeable one?"He fell silent for a moment, then said, "Where is the one who asked about the garments of Paradise?"The man said, "I am here."He said, "No, rather they split forth from the fruit of Paradise."
حدثنا أبو كامل حدثنا زياد بن عبد الله بن علاثة القاضي أبو سهل حدثنا العلاء بن رافع
ألا أحدثكم حديثا سمعته أذناي ووعاه قلبي لم أنسه بعد خرجت أنا وعبيد الله بن حيدة في طريق الشام فمررنا بعبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص فذكر الحديث فقال جاء رجل من قومكما أعرابي جاف جريء فقال يا رسول الله أين الهجرة إليك حيثما كنت أم إلى أرض معلومة أو لقوم خاصة أم إذا مت انقطعت قال فسكت رسول الله ﷺ ساعة ثم قال أين السائل عن الهجرة قال ها أنا ذا يا رسول الله قال إذا أقمت الصلاة وآتيت الزكاة فأنت مهاجر وإن مت بالحضرمة قال يعني أرضا باليمامة قال ثم قام رجل فقال يا رسول الله أرأيت ثياب أهل الجنة أتنسج نسجا أم تشقق من ثمر الجنة قال فكأن القوم تعجبوا من مسألة الأعرابي فقال ما تعجبون من جاهل يسأل عالما قال فسكت هنية ثم قال أين السائل عن ثياب الجنة قال أنا قال لا بل تشقق من ثمر الجنة
