I was with him when he met Nawf. Nawf said, "It has been mentioned to us that Allah the Exalted said to His angels, 'Call My servants to Me.' They replied, 'Our Lord, how, when the seven heavens are between them and us, and the Throne is above that?' He said, 'When they say there is no god but Allah, they have answered.'"Abdullah bin Amr said to him, "We prayed Maghrib, or some other prayer, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A group of us, myself among them, sat waiting for the next prayer. He came toward us walking quickly. It is as if I can still see him raising his lower garment so he could move faster. When he reached us, he said, 'Receive good news! This is your Lord. He has commanded the gate of the middle heaven,' or he said, 'the gate of the heaven, to be opened, and He has boasted of you to the angels, saying, Look at My servants. They have fulfilled one obligation owed to Me, and now they sit waiting to fulfill another.'"

Its isnad is sahih, even though it appears daif at first glance, because of the anonymity of the man from the people of Syria who narrated it. However, he is identified through two other narrations, as we will mention, Allah willing.Sulayman bin Mughira, his reliability was already established at 783, and here we add the statement of Shubah, "Sulayman bin Mughira is the leader of the people of Basra." Ahmad said, "Reliable, reliable." Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 2/2/39, and Ibn Saad in al-Tabaqat 7/2/38.Thabit is Ibn Aslam Banani. This hadith has already passed with similar meaning at 6750 and 6752, through the narration of Hammad bin Salama from Thabit Bunani from Ayub, who is Yahya bin Malik al-Azdi al-Muraghi. In my view, it is most likely that he is the one meant here by the anonymous successor, "a man from the people of Syria." And if he is not, then the hadith is still connected through another route via a man who is trustworthy and known, so the anonymity of the successor is not harmful in that case, since successors are given acceptance and the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. As for his saying, "so that it would spur him on more in walking," the word "ahathth" with the three-dotted tha appears in M, while in H it is "ahabb" with the single-dotted ba. In K it was written to allow both readings, with three dots above the letter and one dot beneath it, just as we have written it here, so that it may be read with either the tha or the ba, and both readings give a correct meaning.
