I came to Madinah with a group from the people of Makkah, intending to perform Umrah from there. I met Abdullah bin Umar and said to him, "We are people from Makkah who have come to Madinah and have never performed Hajj. May we perform Umrah from here?"He replied, "Yes, what would prevent you from that? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed all of his Umrahs before his Hajj."So we performed Umrah.
Its isnad is sahih. Yaqub is Ibn Ibrahim bin Saad. Part of the meaning of this hadith has already passed in brief form at 5069, through the narration of Ibn Jurayj from Ikrima bin Khalid, and we noted there that Bukhari narrated it at 3:477 through the route of Ibn Jurayj. Bukhari, in a comment following that narration, pointed to this narration of Ibn Ishaq that is here, saying, Ibrahim bin Saad said, from Ibn Ishaq, Ikrima bin Khalid narrated to me, he said, I asked Ibn Umar, similarly. Hafiz mentioned that this comment was connected by Ahmad from Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad, with the isnad mentioned, so he is pointing to this hadith.
