The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted continuously without breaking his fast, so the people did the same. He then forbade them from doing so. They said, "Messenger of Allah, but you yourself fast continuously."He replied, "I am not like you. I am given food and drink."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا أبي حدثنا أيوب عن نافع
واصل رسول الله ﷺ فواصل الناس فنهاهم فقالوا يا رسول الله فإنك تواصل فقال إني لست كهيئتكم إني أطعم وأسقى
Its chain of transmission is sahih, and it is a repetition of 6299. As for his saying, "for you continue fasting without breaking it," in the margin copy of manuscript M it reads, "you continue..."
