The Prophet ﷺ had a gold ring made and wore it on his right hand, with its stone facing the inside of his palm. The people then began wearing gold rings themselves. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit, threw the ring away, and forbade wearing gold rings.
حدثنا صفوان بن عيسى أخبرنا أسامة بن زيد عن نافع
أن النبي ﷺ اتخذ خاتما من ذهب فجعله في يمينه وجعل فصه مما يلي باطن كفه فاتخذ الناس خواتيم الذهب قال فصعد رسول الله ﷺ المنبر فألقاه ونهى عن التختم بالذهب
