The Prophet ﷺ said, "A man must not sell over his brother's sale, nor propose over his brother's proposal, unless he has his permission." Sometimes he said, "until he gives him permission."
حدثنا عارم حدثنا حماد عن أيوب عن نافع
عن النبي ﷺ قال لا يبيع الرجل على بيع أخيه ولا يخطب على خطبة أخيه إلا بإذنه وربما قال يأذن له
Its isnad is sahih. Arim is Muhammad bin Fadl Sadusi. Hammad is Ibn Zayd, and the hadith is a repetition of 6276. It has also occurred previously through the narration of Yunus from Hammad bin Zayd, 6088.His statement at the end, "and sometimes he said, 'he permits him,'" is in the form of the present tense verb, and it has indeed been established that way, clear and vowelled, in [manuscript] K, with a fatha on the dhal. In another [manuscript], with a fatha on the nun, which is an abbreviation formed by omitting the governing particle, the verb being mentioned in the accusative through this omission, by way of quotation. This is supported by the earlier narration through the route of Hammad bin Zayd, 6088, where it reads, "or he said, 'unless he permits him.'"
