Abdullah bin Umar reported,

Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted his camel to set out on a journey, he would say "Allahu Akbar" three times, then say, "Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it by ourselves, and indeed to our Lord we shall surely return. O Allah, we ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness, piety, and deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey of ours easy for us and shorten its distance. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian over the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from a sorrowful return, and from finding distress in family and property upon coming home."When he returned, he would say the same words and add, "Returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord."

حدثنا عبد الرزاق أنبأنا ابن جريج أخبرني أبو الزبير أن عليا الأزدي أخبره أن

ابن عمر علمه

أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا استوى على بعيره خارجا إلى سفر كبر ثلاثا ثم قال سبحان الذي سخر لنا هذا وما كنا له مقرنين وإنا إلى ربنا لمنقلبون اللهم إنا نسألك في سفرنا هذا البر والتقوى ومن العمل ما ترضى اللهم هون علينا سفرنا هذا واطو عنا بعده اللهم أنت الصاحب في السفر والخليفة في الأهل اللهم إني أعوذ بك من وعثاء السفر وكآبة المنقلب وسوء المنظر في الأهل والمال وإذا رجع قالهن وزاد فيهن آيبون تائبون عابدون لربنا حامدون
