I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever drags his lower garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection."Zayd said that Ibn Umar used to relate that the Prophet ﷺ once saw him wearing a lower garment that was making a rustling sound, meaning it was new.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who is this?"I replied, "I am Abdullah."He said, "If you are Abdullah, then raise your lower garment."So I raised it.He said, "Raise it more."So I raised it further until it reached the middle of my shins. Then he turned to Abu Bakr and said, "Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection."Abu Bakr said, "My lower garment slips down at times."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "You are not one of them."
Its isnad is sahih. This is a longer version of 6204 and 6263. We noted this at 6263, and see also 5713 and 5714. The addition of "on the Day of Resurrection" in the first instance we have added from the manuscript in the margin of M. As for the second instance, it is confirmed in all three original manuscripts.
