Ali came into my house and called for water for ablution. I brought him a wooden bowl that holds a mudd or close to it, and set it before him. He had just relieved himself. He said, "Ibn Abbas, shall I perform for you the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"I said, "Yes, may my father and mother be ransomed for you."So a vessel was placed before him. He washed his hands, then rinsed his mouth, drew water into his nose and blew it out. Then he took water with both his hands and struck his face with them, inserting his thumbs into the front of his ears. He repeated this three times. Then he took a handful of water with his right hand and poured it onto the front of his head, letting it flow down over his face. Then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, and the other arm in the same way. Then he wiped his head and the backs of his ears. Then he took water in his palms and struck them against his feet while he was wearing his sandals, then turned the water over them with his hands, and did the same with the other foot.I said, "Even with the sandals on?"He said, "Even with the sandals on."I said, "Even with the sandals on?"He said, "Even with the sandals on."I said, "Even with the sandals on?"He said, "Even with the sandals on."
