The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade qaza, which is to shave part of a boy's head and leave the rest of his hair.
حدثنا يحيى بن أبي بكير حدثنا زهير حدثنا عمر بن نافع عن أبيه
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن القزع والقزع أن يحلق رأس الصبي ويترك بعض شعره
Its isnad is sahih. Zuhayr is Ibn Muawiya. The hadith is given in full at 5990.
