When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer, he would raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then say the takbir. When he intended to bow, he would raise them until they were level with his shoulders and say the takbir while they were in that position, then bow. When he intended to rise from bowing, he would raise them until they were level with his shoulders and say, "Allah hears whoever praises Him." Then he would prostrate without raising his hands during prostration. He would raise his hands with every rakah and with every takbir he made before bowing, until his prayer was complete.
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا ابن أخي ابن شهاب عن عمه حدثني سالم بن عبد الله أن
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا قام إلى الصلاة يرفع يديه حتى إذا كانتا حذو منكبيه كبر ثم إذا أراد أن يركع رفعهما حتى يكونا حذو منكبيه كبر وهما كذلك ركع ثم إذا أراد أن يرفع صلبه رفعهما حتى يكونا حذو منكبيه قال سمع الله لمن حمده ثم يسجد ولا يرفع يديه في السجود ويرفعهما في كل ركعة وتكبيرة كبرها قبل الركوع حتى تنقضي صلاته
