There was a man from the Ansar who was constantly being cheated in his business dealings, and he had a defect in his speech. He complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the deception he was suffering, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "When you make a transaction, say, 'No deception.'"Ibn Umar said, "By Allah, it is as if I can still hear him making his deals and saying, 'No deception,' stumbling over the words with his tongue."
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق حدثني نافع
كان رجل من الأنصار لا يزال يغبن في البيوع وكانت في لسانه لوثة فشكا إلى رسول الله ﷺ ما يلقى من الغبن فقال له رسول الله ﷺ إذا أنت بايعت فقل لا خلابة قال يقول ابن عمر فوالله لكأني أسمعه يبايع ويقول لا خلابة يلجلج بلسانه

Its isnad is sahih, and it has already been given at length in similar wording, through the narration of Sulayman bin Bilal from Abdullah bin Dinar from Ibn Umar, 5405, and it has also passed in brief several times, the last of which was 5970.Al-lawthah, with the lam vowelled with damma and with the letter tha with three dots, means slackness and slowness. A man described as having lawthah is one who is slow, deliberate, and lacking in strength. This is what is stated in Lisan.
