I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid a man from proposing marriage over the proposal of his brother or making a sale over the sale of his brother.
حدثنا يعقوب وسعد قالا حدثنا أبي عن محمد بن إسحاق قال وحدثني نافع مولى عبد الله بن عمر أن
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ نهى أن يخطب الرجل على خطبة أخيه أو يبيع على بيعه
Its isnad is sahih. Saad is the son of Ibrahim bin Saad, brother of Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad, whose reliability we have already established at 709, and we add here that Bukhari mentioned him in Al-Kabir 2/53/2. The hadith is an abridged version, in meaning, of 6088. His wording "over his sale" appears in K as "over his brother's sale," which is a variant given in the margin of M.
