A man from the desert people asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer. He gestured with his fingers and said, "Two by two, and the witr is a single rakah at the end of the night."

أن رجلا من أهل البادية سأل رسول الله ﷺ عن صلاة الليل فقال بإصبعيه مثنى مثنى والوتر ركعة من آخر الليل
