Its isnad is sahih. Ismail bin Muhammad is Ismail bin Muhammad bin Jablah, Abu Ibrahim al-Muaqqib, whose reliability was already established at 942. Abbad bin Abbad is al-Muhallabi, whose reliability was already established at 1791, and he is among the teachers of Ahmad, but Ahmad related from him here through the intermediary of Ismail bin Muhammad, as well as in other places including 12499 and 14644. Muslim related the hadith at 1:353 from Yahya bin Ayub and Abdullah bin Awn al-Hilali, both of them from Abbad, and its ending reads, and in the version of Ibn Awn, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the state of ihram for Hajj alone. These two versions are found in al-Muntaqa at 2390 and 2391.
