I was sitting with Ibn Umar, then I got up and left a man from Kindah with him. I went to Saeed bin Musayab, and the man from Kindah came in alarmed.He said, "A man came to Ibn Umar and said, 'I swear by the Kaabah.'"Ibn Umar said, "No, rather swear by the Lord of the Kaabah. Umar used to swear by his father, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do not swear by your father, for whoever swears by other than Allah has committed shirk.'"

كنت عند ابن عمر فقمت وتركت رجلا عنده من كندة فأتيت سعيد بن المسيب قال فجاء الكندي فزعا فقال جاء ابن عمر رجل فقال أحلف بالكعبة فقال لا ولكن احلف برب الكعبة فإن عمر كان يحلف بأبيه فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا تحلف بأبيك فإنه من حلف بغير الله فقد أشرك
