Ahmad 5250

Both of its chains are sahih. It is a repetition of 4976.These two chains need some clarification, since they are not as they might appear at first glance. One might initially understand that Waki narrated it from Ibn Abu Rawwad, from Sufyan and Umar bin Muhammad together, from Nafi, taking Sufyan here to be Thawri. But this first impression is mistaken, for Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Rawwad and Umar bin Muhammad bin Zayd bin Abdullah bin Umar are both narrators from Nafi in their own right. What is actually meant is that Imam Ahmad heard it from Waki, from Ibn Abu Rawwad, from Nafi, and also from Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Umar bin Muhammad, from Nafi.
