The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The likeness of the believer is like that of a tree whose leaves do not fall. What is it?"The people offered various answers, but none were correct. I wanted to say it was the date palm, but I felt too shy to speak up.Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "It is the date palm."
Its isnad is sahih. Muharib bin Dithar Sadusi, the judge of Kufa, was a trustworthy Tabii. Ahmad, Ibn Main, Abu Zura, and others affirmed his trustworthiness, and Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 4/2/28-29. He was one of the most perceptive of people. Simak bin Harb said, "The people of the Jahiliyyah, when a man possessed six qualities, would make him their chief, forbearance, patience, generosity, courage, eloquence, and humility, and these are not complete in Islam except with chastity added to them. And they were all complete in this man," meaning Muharib bin Dithar.Dithar is written with a kasrah on the undotted dal and a light (unshaddaded) thaa. This hadith is a repetition of 4599, with the same meaning.
