The Messenger of Allah ﷺ handed Khaybar over to its inhabitants on the basis that they would receive half of its produce. It remained in their possession throughout the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the lifetime of Abu Bakr, and the lifetime of Umar, until Umar sent me to divide the produce with them. They cast a spell on me and my hand became deformed, so Umar took the land back from them.
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا الحجاج بن أرطاة عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ دفع خيبر إلى أهلها بالشطر فلم تزل معهم حياة رسول الله ﷺ كلها وحياة أبي بكر وحياة عمر حتى بعثني عمر لأقاسمهم فسحروني فتكوعت يدي فانتزعها عمر منهم
