Nafi reported,

Ibn Umar's son, Abdullah bin Abdullah, came in to see him while his riding camel was in the courtyard, and said, "I do not feel safe that this year there may be fighting among the people which will keep you from reaching the House. It would be better if you stayed."Ibn Umar replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, and the disbelievers of Quraysh stood between him and the House. If anything stands between me and it, I will do as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did." Then he recited, "You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example" [Ahzab 33:21]. He said, "I make the intention for umrah."Then he set off, and when he reached al-Bayda he said, "I see that the two rites are but one. I call you to witness that I have joined hajj to my umrah." Then he arrived and made a single tawaf for both.
