My uncle Alqama and I went in to see Abdullah bin Masud at midday. He stood up to pray the Zuhr prayer, so we stood behind him. He took my hand and my uncle's hand, placing one of us on his right and the other on his left, then he stood between us so that we formed a single row behind him. Then he said, "This is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do when they were three."He led us in prayer. When he bowed, he clasped his hands together, pressed his forearms against his thighs, and placed his palms between his knees. After he gave the salam, he turned to us and said, "There will be rulers who delay the prayer beyond its proper times. When they do that, do not wait for them to pray it. Pray it on time, and let your prayer with them be voluntary."
