Uthman went out and led the people in that prayer, two rakahs with two prostrations in each rakah. Then Uthman departed and entered his house.Abdullah bin Masud sat near the chamber of Ayesha, and we sat with him. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to pray at the eclipse of the sun and the moon. So when you see either of them eclipsed, hasten to prayer. For if what you fear has indeed come, it will not catch you in heedlessness, and if it has not come, you will have gained good and earned reward."
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق حدثنا الحارث بن فضيل الأنصاري ثم الخطمي عن سفيان بن أبي العوجاء السلمي عن أبي شريح الخزاعي قال كسفت الشمس في عهد عثمان بن عفان وبالمدينة
فخرج عثمان فصلى بالناس تلك الصلاة ركعتين وسجدتين في كل ركعة قال ثم انصرف عثمان فدخل داره وجلس عبد الله بن مسعود إلى حجرة عائشة وجلسنا إليه فقال إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يأمرنا بالصلاة عند كسوف الشمس والقمر فإذا رأيتموه قد أصابهما فافزعوا إلى الصلاة فإنها إن كانت التي تحذرون كانت وأنتم على غير غفلة وإن لم تكن كنتم قد أصبتم خيرا واكتسبتموه
