Abdullah bin Masud reported,

I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hunayn. The people turned away from him, but eighty men from the Muhajirun and the Ansar stood firm with him. We retreated about eighty paces, yet we did not turn our backs to the enemy. These were the ones upon whom Allah sent down tranquility.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on his mule, pressing forward. His mule swerved with him and he leaned to one side of the saddle, so I said to him, "Sit upright, may Allah raise you."He said, "Hand me a handful of dirt."He threw it at their faces, and their eyes filled with dirt.Then he said, "Where are the Muhajirun and the Ansar?"I replied, "Here they are."He said, "Call out to them."So I called out to them, and they came with their swords in their right hands like shooting stars, and the polytheists turned their backs in flight.

حدثنا عفان حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد حدثنا الحارث بن حصيرة حدثنا القاسم بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه قال

قال عبد الله بن مسعود

كنت مع رسول الله ﷺ يوم حنين قال فولى عنه الناس وثبت معه ثمانون رجلا من المهاجرين والأنصار فنكصنا على أقدامنا نحوا من ثمانين قدما ولم نولهم الدبر وهم الذين أنزل الله عز وجل عليهم السكينة قال ورسول الله ﷺ على بغلته يمضي قدما فحادت به بغلته فمال عن السرج فقلت له ارتفع رفعك الله فقال ناولني كفا من تراب فضرب به وجوههم فامتلأت أعينهم ترابا ثم قال أين المهاجرون والأنصار قلت هم أولاء قال اهتف بهم فهتفت بهم فجاءوا وسيوفهم بأيمانهم كأنها الشهب وولى المشركون أدبارهم
