We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and the people could not find any water. A vessel of water was brought to him, and the Prophet ﷺ placed his hand in it and spread his fingers apart. I saw water gushing out from between the fingers of the Prophet ﷺ. Then he said, "Come to ablution, and the blessing is from Allah."Amash said, Salim bin Abu Jaad informed me, saying, I asked Jabir bin Abdullah, "How many people were there that day?"He replied, "We were one thousand five hundred."
Both chains are sahih. In reality it is two hadiths, one from Ibn Masud and one from Jabir bin Abdullah. The hadith of Ibn Masud will come again with a similar wording through another chain, no. 4393, and by that route it was narrated by Bukhari and Tirmidhi, who graded it sahih. The hadith of Jabir was narrated by Bukhari, as found in Tarikh Ibn Kathir 6:96. Its meaning has already appeared in the Musnad of Ibn Abbas, nos. 2268 and 2991. The addition [then he said] we have added from K. The tur, with the fatha on the letter ta and sukun on the waw, is a vessel made of copper or stone, like a large basin.3808, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, Mamar narrated to us from Mansur, from Abu Waail, from Abdullah bin Masud, who said, a man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "How can I know when I have done well and when I have done badly?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "When you hear your neighbors saying, 'You have done well,' then you have done well, and when you hear them saying, 'You have done badly,' then you have done badly." Sahih.(3808) Its chain is sahih. It was narrated by Ibn Majah 2:288 through the route of Abdul-Razzaq from Mamar. His commentator Sindi quoted from the Zawaid of Hafiz Busiri on Sunan Ibn Majah that he said, this hadith of Abdullah bin Masud is sahih, its men are trustworthy. It was also narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih through the route of Abdul-Razzaq, with the same wording. It is also found in Majma al-Zawaid by Haythami, 10:271, where he said, Tabarani narrated it, and its men are the men of the Sahih, so he brought it in as an addition even though it is not actually among the additions, and he then failed to attribute it to the Musnad.
