There was a sheep or domestic animal belonging to one of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ which died. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Why did you not make use of its hide or its skin?"

Its isnad is sahih, and it is an abridgment of 3452. As for the statement, "Ibn Bakr said, 'Then I heard him afterward,' meaning Ataa," this is not to be understood according to what its apparent wording might suggest, namely that Muhammad bin Bakr heard it from Ataa himself, for that would be impossible. Rather, the phrase "meaning Ataa" is a clarification of who the speaker was in "Then I heard him afterward." That is to say, Abdul-Razzaq narrated from Ibn Jurayj, who said, "I heard Ataa," while Ibn Bakr narrated from Ibn Jurayj that he said, "Then I heard him afterward," meaning, "I heard Ataa." Perhaps this came from Ibn Jurayj in the course of some speech that led him to express it in this way.
