The Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of men who were practicing archery and said, "Shoot, sons of Ismail, for your father was an archer."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أنبأنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن زياد بن حصين عن أبي العالية
مر النبي ﷺ بنفر يرمون فقال رميا بني إسماعيل فإن أباكم كان راميا
Its isnad is sahih. Hakim reported it in 2:94 through Ishaq bin Ibrahim Sanani, and through Ahmad bin Hanbal, both of them from Abdul-Razzaq, and he said, "The hadith is sahih according to the criterion of Muslim, though the two of them did not include it." Dhahabi agreed with him. Ibn Majah reported it in 2:98 from Muhammad bin Yahya from Abdul-Razzaq.
