Yahya reported that Shuba used to raise it as a marfu hadith, "The dog and the menstruating woman cut off the prayer."
حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة قال حدثني قتادة عن جابر بن زيد
يحيى كان شعبة يرفعه يقطع الصلاة الكلب والمرأة الحائض
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abu Dawud related it, 1:259, from Musaddad, from Yahya, from Shuba, then he said, Saeed, Hisham, and Hammam narrated it stopped (mawquf), from Qatada, from Jabir bin Zayd, from Ibn Abbas. Munziri said in his Mukhtasar, 671, Nasai and Ibn Majah also related it.Shuba's raising it to the Prophet (rafa) is an addition from a trustworthy narrator, so it is accepted, and the narration that is raised to the Prophet (marfu) is not faulted by the one that is stopped (mawquf), as we have said many times. See 2222, and see also Nasb Raya, 2:78-79.
