The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The deceased is punished by his family's weeping over him."
حدثنا عثمان بن عمر أخبرنا يونس عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب أن
إن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن الميت يعذب ببكاء أهله عليه
Its isnad is sahih, even though it appears at first glance to be disconnected, since Saeed bin Musayab did not meet Umar. However, the hadith has already come at 180 and 247 through the route of Qatada, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Ibn Umar, from Umar. See also 294.
