Yaala bin Umaya reported,

I performed tawaf with Umar bin Khattab , and he touched the corner. Yala said, I was on the side closer to the House, and when we reached the western corner that is next to the Aswad, I pulled his hand to make him touch it.He asked, "What are you doing?"I replied, "Aren't you going to touch it?"He said, "Did you not perform tawaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"I answered, "Yes."He asked, "Did you see him touch these two western corners?"I said, "No."He said, "Then do you not have in him an excellent example?"I replied, "Yes."He said, "Then move along."

عن يعلى بن أمية قال

طفت مع عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فاستلم الركن قال يعلى فكنت مما يلي البيت فلما بلغت الركن الغربي الذي يلي الأسود جررت بيده ليستلم فقال ما شأنك فقلت ألا تستلم قال ألم تطف مع رسول الله ﷺ فقلت بلى فقال أفرأيته يستلم هذين الركنين الغربيين قال فقلت لا قال أفليس لك فيه أسوة حسنة قال قلت بلى قال فانفذ عنك
