Anas bin Malik reported,

Some people from the Zutt who were worshipping an idol were brought to Ali , and he had them burned. When Ibn Abbas heard of this, he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ only said, 'Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'"

أن عليا رضي الله عنه أتي بأناس من الزط يعبدون وثنا فأحرقهم فقال ابن عباس إنما قال رسول الله ﷺ من بدل دينه فاقتلوه
