Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam reported,

I came to Abu Darda during the illness in which he passed away. He said to me, "My nephew, what brings you to this land? What has brought you here?"I replied, "Nothing except to maintain the bond that existed between you and my father Abdullah bin Salam."Abu Darda said, "How wretched is this hour for lying. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever performs ablution and does it well, then stands and prays two or four units of prayer'" — Sahl was uncertain which — "'making the remembrance and reverence within them excellent, then seeks the forgiveness of Allah , will be forgiven.'"Abdullah said, Saeed bin Abu Rabi al-Samman also narrated this to us, saying, Sadaqa bin Abu Sahl al-Hinai narrated to us. Abdullah and Ahmad bin Abdul-Malik were mistaken regarding the name of the shaykh, for they said Sahl bin Abu Sadaqa, when in fact he is Sadaqa bin Abu Sahl al-Hinai.

يوسف بن عبد الله بن سلام قال

أتيت أبا الدرداء في مرضه الذي قبض فيه فقال لي يا ابن أخي ما أعمدك إلى هذا البلد أو ما جاء بك قال قلت لا إلا صلة ما كان بينك وبين والدي عبد الله بن سلام فقال أبو الدرداء بئس ساعة الكذب هذه سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من توضأ فأحسن وضوءه ثم قام فصلى ركعتين أو أربعا شك سهل يحسن فيهما الذكر والخشوع ثم استغفر الله عز وجل غفر له قال عبد الله وحدثناه سعيد بن أبي الربيع السمان قال حدثنا صدقة بن أبي سهل الهنائي قال عبد الله وأحمد بن عبد الملك وهم في اسم الشيخ فقال سهل بن أبي صدقة وإنما هو صدقة بن أبي سهل الهنائي
