Ubaydullah bin Abdullah reported,

Marwan sent Abdullah bin Utbah to Subayah bint Harith to ask her about the ruling the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given her. She told him that she had been married to Saad bin Khawla, who died during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He had been a veteran of Badr. She gave birth before four months and ten days had passed since his death. After she had recovered from her postnatal bleeding and had applied kohl, Abu Sanabil, meaning Ibn Bakak, met her and said to her, "Hold back, or something to that effect. Perhaps you want to remarry. You must wait four months and ten days from your husband's death."She said, "So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned to him what Abu Sanabil bin Bakak had said."The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "You became permitted to remarry the moment you gave birth."
