Qutayla bint Sayfi Juhani reported,

A rabbi from among the rabbis came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Muhammad, what an excellent people you would be, if only you did not commit shirk."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Glory be to Allah, what do you mean?"He replied, "When you swear an oath, you say, 'By the Kaabah.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ paused for a moment, then said, "He has spoken truly. Whoever swears an oath, let him swear by the Lord of the Kaabah."The rabbi then said, "Muhammad, what an excellent people you would be, if only you did not set up rivals to Allah."He said, "Glory be to Allah, what do you mean?"The rabbi replied, "You say, 'What Allah wills and what you will.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ paused for a moment, then said, "He has spoken truly. Whoever wishes to say, 'What Allah wills,' let him separate it from what follows by saying 'then,' before saying 'what you will.'"

عن قتيلة بنت صيفي الجهينية قالت

أتى حبر من الأحبار رسول الله ﷺ فقال يا محمد نعم القوم أنتم لولا أنكم تشركون قال سبحان الله وما ذاك قال تقولون إذا حلفتم والكعبة قالت فأمهل رسول الله ﷺ شيئا ثم قال إنه قد قال فمن حلف فليحلف برب الكعبة قال يا محمد نعم القوم أنتم لولا أنكم تجعلون لله ندا قال سبحان الله وما ذاك قال تقولون ما شاء الله وشئت قال فأمهل رسول الله ﷺ شيئا ثم قال إنه قد قال فمن قال ما شاء الله فليفصل بينهما ثم شئت
