My son passed away, and I was overwhelmed with grief over him. I said to the one washing his body, "Do not wash my son with cold water, for it will kill him."Ukkashah bin Mihsan went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of what she had said. He smiled and then said, "What did she say? May her life be long."The narrator said, "I do not know of any woman who lived as long as she did."
حدثنا حجاج وهاشم قالا حدثنا ليث قال حدثني يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن أبي الحسن مولى أم قيس بنت محصن
توفي ابني فجزعت عليه فقلت للذي يغسله لا تغسل ابني بالماء البارد فتقتله فانطلق عكاشة بن محصن إلى رسول الله ﷺ فأخبره بقولها فتبسم ثم قال ما قالت طال عمرها قال فلا أعلم امرأة عمرت ما عمرت
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Hasan, the freedman of Umm Qays, is a trustworthy narrator, and his hadith is found in Bukhari's Adab al-Mufrad 222, no. 652, Nasai in the chapter on funerals 4/29, no. 1882, and Tabarani in al-Kabir vol. 25, no. 446.
