When news arrived of Jafar's death, we recognized grief in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.She said, A man came in to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, the women have overwhelmed us and distressed us."He said, "Go back to them and silence them."So he went, then returned and said the same thing.He said, And sometimes affectation harms the one who undertakes it.The Prophet said, "Go and silence them, and if they refuse, then throw dust into their mouths."She said, I said to myself, "May Allah put you at a distance. By Allah, you have not spared yourself the trouble, nor are you obeying the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." I knew he would not be able to throw dust into their mouths.
حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني عبد الرحمن بن القاسم بن محمد عن أبيه
لما أتى قتل جعفر عرفنا في رسول الله ﷺ الحزن قالت فدخل عليه رجل فقال يا رسول الله إن النساء قد غلبننا وفتننا قال فارجع إليهن فأسكتهن قال فذهب ثم رجع فقال له مثل ذلك قال يقول وربما ضر التكلف أهله قال فاذهب فأسكتهن فإن أبين فاحث في أفواههن التراب قالت قلت في نفسي أبعدك الله فوالله ما تركت نفسك وما أنت بمطيع رسول الله ﷺ قالت عرفت أنه لا يقدر على أن يحثو في أفواههن التراب
